Events and festivals in Corsica this weekend, September 19-20, 2026: the Calvi polyphonic gathering closes its 38th edition as Bastia opens its Heritage Days.
One last big weekend before autumn, on the island. Calvi and Bastia each host an event on September 19 and 20, 2026.
The Calvi Polyphonic Gathering
The Rencontres de Chants Polyphoniques de Calvi close on Saturday, September 19, with their 38th edition. Five days of concerts, from September 15 to 19, on Avenue Christophe Colomb, in a town used to the exercise for nearly forty years. A history going back to 1989.
It began with a concert by A Filetta and Su Cuncordu e Tenore de Orosei, held in Calvi's Saint-Jean-Baptiste cathedral, a name still attached to every edition since. The association U Svegliu Calvese runs the gathering every September, and Corsican polyphonic ensembles mix with voices from around the world.
Saturday's closing night brings that range together.
Heritage Days in Bastia
In Bastia, the Journées du Patrimoine run all weekend, Saturday September 19 and Sunday September 20 (19-20/09), a local edition of the European Heritage Days run by the city's Heritage Department. A nationwide movement.
The Ministry of Culture runs this cultural event every September, across the whole country, on the same dates as in Bastia. Residents and visitors rediscover the city's architectural, maritime and historical heritage, which it opens for one weekend, when these sites often stay less accessible.
Entry to these sites stays free all weekend.
