Edition 2025 — Avatarium
The Avatarium Festival returned to Puits Couriot — Parc-Musée de la Mine in Saint-Étienne from May 22nd to 24th, 2025, for three days of concerts, digital workshops, conferences, and guided tours of the former mining site. True to its spirit of discovery and independence, this edition featured an eclectic musical program blending rock, punk, noise, electronic music, and hip-hop, as well as workshops on free software and artistic performances.

Avatarium 2025 — May 22nd to 24th
The Avatarium Festival took place at the Puits Couriot — Parc-Musée de la Mine from May 22nd to 24th, 2025, bringing its new edition to life at the historic mining site of Saint-Étienne. Under the pithead frame, the festival presented its characteristic program combining concerts, digital workshops, conferences, screenings, artistic installations, and guided tours of the mine.
Concerts
The musical lineup explored French and international independent scenes, with evening concerts priced at €8 per night. The genres represented covered a wide spectrum: rock, punk, noise, hip-hop, electronic music, and experimental, in the festival's tradition of prioritizing authenticity and the discovery of artists outside commercial circuits.
Workshops and Conferences
During the day, the festival offered free workshops on free software, digital security, DIY sound creation, and graphic arts. Conferences and debates punctuated the program, addressing themes related to new technologies, social alternatives, and independent culture.
Mining Heritage
Festival-goers could enjoy free guided tours of Puits Couriot, descending into the mine to discover Saint-Étienne's mining heritage. This link between contemporary culture and workers' memory has been one of the festival's unique features since its inception.
