Carnival 2025 - Fontenay Celebrates the End of Winter

The Fontenay-le-Comte Carnival once again transformed the town center into a giant street theater for its 2025 edition. The grand parade on Sunday afternoon brought together thousands of spectators along the route, who came to admire the floats created by local associations, applaud the brass bands and costumed groups, and share in the infectious good cheer of the festival.

Dozens of associations and neighborhood committees had worked for several weeks to prepare their creations, with themes ranging from humorous current events to characters from animated films. The floats, sometimes impressive in their size and the complexity of their mechanisms, drew admiration from the crowd gathered on both sides of the street.

The evening concluded with the traditional judgment and burning of Monsieur Carnaval, a grand moment of popular theater where the straw figure was condemned to the pyre after a whimsical and satirical trial, to the cheers of the crowd and the sparks of the bonfire.
