The 25th edition of the Choralies de Vaison-la-Romaine took place from July 30 to August 17, 2025. 25th Edition of the Choralies — Vaison-la-Romaine, Summer 2025
The 25th edition of the Choralies de Vaison-la-Romaine, organized by the association À Cœur Joie, lived up to all expectations. From July 30 to August 17, 2025, over 4,000 participants—amateur and semi-professional singers, choirmasters, instrumentalists, and spectators—transformed Vaison-la-Romaine into the world capital of choral singing for three unforgettable weeks.
Workshops: At the Heart of Choral Training
Over 50 workshops were offered throughout the festival, led by internationally renowned educators, composers, and choirmasters. These morning sessions allowed participants to work on their vocal technique, discover new repertoires, and prepare the major works for Communal Singing. The courses ranged from folk singing to grand sacred choral forms, including polyphony, gospel, world music, and contemporary creation.
Around Sixty Concerts
In the afternoons, participating choirs gave around 60 concerts in the many heritage sites of Vaison-la-Romaine: the Romanesque Notre-Dame de Nazareth Cathedral, chapels, the cloister of the medieval upper town, squares, and gardens. These concerts, often free to attend, allowed the public to discover the richness and diversity of the choral world.
Communal Singing: 4,000 Voices Under the Stars
The culminating moment of each day, the evening Communal Singing brings together up to 4,000 voices each night in the majestic Roman Ancient Theater. Prepared and rehearsed throughout the workshops, the great choral works—Oratorios, masses, motets, new compositions—resonated under the starry Provençal sky with a power and emotion that participants described as a transformative experience.
An Enthusiastic Review
At the end of the 2025 edition, the organizers hailed "three unforgettable weeks where we sang, vibrated, shared, and celebrated the power of the collective." Over 4,000 active participants, dozens of nations represented, hundreds of volunteers mobilized: the Choralies 2025 once again demonstrated the vitality and universality of choral singing. The next edition is announced for 2028.
