34th Edition — Mirrors: Baroque put to the test of time

The 34th edition of the Festival Baroque de Tarentaise, under the theme “Mirrors”, took place from July 30 to August 14, 2025, in twelve emblematic locations in the valley. This edition confronted baroque music with other aesthetics, offering a cross-reference between past and present, tradition and modernity.

Musical highlights

The flagship work of this edition was J.S. Bach's The Musical Offering, a true musical mirror that served as the guiding thread for the programming. The opening concert was entirely dedicated to Élisabeth Jacquet de La Guerre (1665-1729), one of the greatest female composers of the French Grand Siècle. The closing concert paid tribute to Alessandro Scarlatti (1660-1725), celebrating the tricentennial of his death.

Program

The edition offered a total of 17 events: 14 baroque concerts, an electro-baroque show blending early music and electronic creation, a baroque-Bolivian ball celebrating the links between Andean popular music and the baroque repertoire, and a convivial concert-dinner.

Among the invited artists and ensembles: Ensemble Amarillis, Loris Barrucand, The Gesualdo Six, Concert Idéal, Ensemble Alkymia, Ensemble Céladon, L'Achéron, Les Temps présents, Ensemble Voces Suaves, Compagnie Rassegna, Ensemble Sarbacanes, and La Capriola.
