Festival Cinéma du Réel
2025
Edition 2025 — Finished
Edition 2025 — Cinéma du Réel
47th Edition — First Edition Off-Site
The 2025 edition of the Cinéma du Réel Festival marked a historic turning point: for the first time since its creation in 1979, the festival took place outside the Centre Pompidou, which is closed for a major renovation project scheduled until 2030. Screenings were held in independent art-house cinemas on the Left Bank, as part of the Centre Pompidou's "Constellation" program.
Despite this relocation, the festival maintained its ambitious programming in its entirety, presenting around two hundred films from global documentary filmmaking. The international and French competitions featured works exploring the boundaries of reality, from the intimate to the political, from the poetic to the activist.
A selection celebrating documentary diversity
The international jury awarded its prizes to films demonstrating the vitality of contemporary documentary, confirming Cinéma du Réel's role as a laboratory for new forms of reality filmmaking.
