29th edition: Mnozil Brass opens the festival

The 29th edition of the Cuivres en Dombes Festival took place from 4 to 26 July 2025, offering a month of music across the Dombes. The festival presented 28 concerts split between 7 evening heritage concerts in exceptional venues and 21 free aperitif concerts in Dombes villages.

The major event of this edition was the opening with the celebrated Austrian ensemble Mnozil Brass, on 5 and 6 July at the Espace Noël Ravassard in Châtillon-sur-Chalaronne. The group, also celebrating 30 years of their career, gave the audience their only performance in France, attracting spectators from across Europe.

The eclectic programme took audiences on a journey through styles: the Australian Hot Potato Band at the Château du Breuil in Monthieux, the Sassy Swingers in the Halles de Châtillon-sur-Chalaronne, Big Funk Brass and the Amazing Keystone Big Band at the Château de Glareins, plus Astro Brass and singer Neima Naouri for the closing. Artists came from Australia, Austria, Korea, Belgium and France, illustrating the festival's international dimension.

The 21 free aperitif concerts in villages allowed a wide audience to discover brass music in a convivial atmosphere, accompanied by tastings of local produce. The festival mobilised around a hundred volunteers and featured two world premieres and a composer in residence.
