Edition 2025 — Festival Avignon
The 79th edition of the Festival d'Avignon took place from July 5 to 25, 2025. Under the artistic direction of Tiago Rodrigues, it brought together artists from over fifteen countries around a program anchored in the motto of the Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish: "I am you in the words." The Cour d'Honneur of the Palais des Papes once again vibrated to the rhythm of major international creations, welcoming around 130,000 spectators over three weeks.
79th edition — I am you in the words
The 79th edition of the Festival d'Avignon, directed by Tiago Rodrigues, took place from July 5 to 25, 2025. It was placed under the theme of dialogue and otherness, echoing the phrase of the Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish: "I am you in the words." This orientation guided a resolutely international program, bringing together artists and companies from about fifteen countries to imagine shared futures together on stage.
A rich program
The Cour d'Honneur of the Palais des Papes hosted the most ambitious shows of the season, bringing together big names in international directing. The fifty or so shows in the "In" selection offered a map of contemporary sensibilities, between text-based theatre, performance, dance, and hybrid forms. The festival was part of the "Avignon, Land of Culture 2025" initiative, celebrating curiosity as a driving force for creation.
Key programs of the 2025 edition
- Artiste complice: resident artists sharing their creative process with locals
