38th Sault Lavender Festival - 2025 Edition
The 38th edition of the Lavender Festival was held on Friday, August 15, 2025, at the Sault hippodrome, on the Vaucluse plateau, in an exceptional natural setting dominated by the majestic Mont Ventoux. For this anniversary edition, the festival once again brought together lavender growers, distillers, artisans, and lavender enthusiasts from all over Provence and beyond.
The highlight of the morning was the French Sickle Lavender Harvesting Championship, which pitted the best lavender growers from the plateau against each other. Competitors faced off on demarcated plots of fine lavender, demonstrating the speed and precision of their ancestral gestures to an admiring crowd. The amateur competition, open to all, allowed visitors to try their hand at the sickle technique under the benevolent guidance of the farmers.
Traditional stills set up on the site operated throughout the day, allowing the public to follow the stages of steam distillation live and observe the extraction of AOP fine lavender essential oil. The producers present passionately explained the subtleties of their cultivation and the requirements of the AOP specifications. The large market offered the best products from the plateau: certified essential oils, floral waters, natural cosmetics, sachets, and honeys.
