Edition 2025 — Festival du Monastier
36th edition of the Festival du Monastier. After five years on the Place du Couvent, the festival makes its grand return to the Cour du Château abbatial to celebrate the 500th anniversary of this emblematic building. Five evenings of concerts blending Renaissance music, prohibition swing, jazz, Anglo-American rock'n'soul, and musical journeys from London to Paris, accompanied by daily free OFF concerts on the Place du Vallat and nightly jam sessions at Le RéBémol.
36th edition: the return to the Château
For its 36th edition, from August 5 to 9, 2025, the Festival du Monastier marked a turning point by making its grand return to the Cour du Château abbatial, the festival's original venue. This return to its roots coincided with the celebration of the Château's 500th anniversary, offering an exceptional historical setting for the concert evenings.
The 2025 edition, condensed into five days but just as musically intense, offered an ambitious program blending Italian Renaissance sacred music, 1920s prohibition swing, jazz explorations, Anglo-American rock'n'soul, and musical journeys between London and Paris. The free OFF concerts animated the Place du Vallat daily with bands such as New Orléans Syndicate, Tzila Brass, Touzdec, Picardy Stompers, and Pierres et Fils.
The festival opening was marked by an exceptional event at the Abbatiale Saint-Chaffre: a creation inspired by Leonardo da Vinci's "The Last Supper," bringing together the ensemble Consort Musica Vera, the Maîtrise de la Cathédrale du Puy-en-Velay, and the Trompettes des Plaisirs around the historic 1518 organ, conducted by Jean-Baptiste Nicolas.
