Edition 2025 — Futurs Possibles
The 4th edition of the Futurs Possibles festival, titled "#4: Animal Part," was held from June 12 to 15, 2025, at the Château de Goutelas in Marcoux. This long weekend explored the complex relationships we have with animals, between affection and exploitation, wild presences and domestication. Scientists, artists, performing arts companies, and associations invested the castle to cross disciplines and formats.
4th Edition — #4: Animal Part
For its fourth edition, the Futurs Possibles festival questioned the complex relationships we have with animals, so present in our daily lives. At home, on our plates, at work, or in art, animals are inseparable from our daily lives and our collective imagination. Between affection and exploitation, wild presences and domestication, economic links and symbolic attachments, this edition proposed to rethink our cohabitations with the animal world.
The castle transformed for four days into a place for meetings, debates, and artistic creation where researchers, philosophers, artists, and professionals shared their perspectives on the condition of animals and our relationships with living beings.
Highlights of the Edition
Philosopher and ethologist Vinciane Despret, a major figure in the thought on human-animal relations, was the guest of honor for this edition. Her conference "Humans-Animals: Rethinking Our Attachments" was a key moment of the festival.
The conversations and round tables addressed the animal cause between protection and controversies (with Vanessa Manceron, Jean-Pierre Marguénaud, and Jérôme Michalon), as well as animal representations in art and culture (with Suzanne Husky, Pierre-Olivier Dittmar, and Arnaud Théval).
On the performance side, Cie Vertical Détour opened the festival with "De la morue, cartographie 6," followed by the "Conférence carnée" and the show "CARNE" by Cie Gérard Gérard, a walking performance by Arnaud Théval titled "Familles dévorantes," and the children's show "La vie Taupe secrète" by Cie Ecoutilles. Cie Bande d'Art et d'Urgence offered the reading "Merveille."
The participatory workshops allowed for cohabitation with insects (Vincent Marquant), tracking wild animals (Anne-Marie Griot), an introduction to equine therapy (Dominique Gutierrez, BiodynamiCaval), and discovering falconry (Volerie du Forez). The board game "Sillons" by Axelle Grégoire completed the program.
