3rd Edition 2025 — The Figures of Tonnerrois

On September 13 and 14, 2025, Tonnerre hosted the third edition of the Festival Historique Tonnerrois under the title "The Figures of Tonnerrois — Men, Women, from Antiquity to the Present Day." This festive and participatory weekend brought together residents, volunteers, and visitors for a rich program combining historical reenactment, an artisan market, and convivial entertainment.

The highlight of the edition, the theatrical fresco, paraded through the streets of the town center, led by costumed participants embodying the great figures of Tonnerrois history. Among the characters highlighted were: Marguerite de Bourgogne, founder of the Hôtel-Dieu in 1293; the Chevalier d'Éon, spy and diplomat born in Tonnerre in 1728, an ambiguous and fascinating figure of the European Enlightenment; and Ernest Cœurderoy, a revolutionary physician of the 19th century.

The artisan and exhibitor market enlivened the square with stands of local creators and producers, while the portrait gallery set up at Espace Marland offered an exhibition on the historical figures celebrated. Concerts, a conference, and fencing bouts completed a varied program, accessible to all and particularly appreciated by families. The wines of AOC Épineuil and Bourgogne Tonnerre were naturally featured at the tasting stands.
