2025 Edition — Power / Indonesia

For its 36th edition, the FIG chose to explore the theme "Power", a polysemic word that runs through all of geography: from the power of states to that of economic actors, from citizen movements to ecological issues. How are political and diplomatic alliances being reshaped? Who dominates the world order? How do power dynamics shape territories?

Indonesia, the guest country, offered a fascinating field of analysis: the fourth most populous country in the world with over 270 million inhabitants, the largest archipelago on the globe with 18,000 islands, the largest Muslim community in the world, and the leading exporter of nickel, tin, and palm oil. The transfer of its capital from Jakarta to Nusantara spectacularly illustrated the stakes of power and territorial development.

The Amerigo Vespucci Book Fair was chaired by Eka Kurniawan, a renowned Indonesian writer. Over 40,000 visitors participated in the 250 events offered during the three days of the festival.
