76th edition of the Festival of Lyric Art of Aix-en-Provence. Five new opera productions including Gluck's Iphigénie, Puccini's Madama Butterfly for the composer's centenary, Debussy's Pelléas et Mélisande. Seven guest orchestras, thirteen concerts and recitals.
76th Edition: In Tune with its History
The 76th edition of the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence took place from July 3 to 23, 2024. This edition featured five new stage productions of operas, including a diptych of Gluck's Iphigénie en Aulide and Iphigénie en Tauride, and Puccini's Madama Butterfly for the centenary of the composer's death.
The program also included Debussy's Pelléas et Mélisande at the Grand Théâtre de Provence with the Orchestre de l'Opéra de Lyon, as well as an opera by Rameau revitalized by director Claus Guth and conductor Raphaël Pichon. Two operas in concert, thirteen concerts and recitals, and seven guest orchestras completed this dense and ambitious program.
