Medieval Festival of Lauzerte 2025 — The Middle Ages in Celebration
On August 26 and 27, 2025, the medieval bastide of Lauzerte once again vibrated to the rhythm of the Middle Ages with its annual Medieval Festival. Hundreds of visitors converged on this village classified among the Most Beautiful Villages of France for two days of medieval immersion, entirely free and open to all.
The medieval market on the Place des Cornières brought together dozens of costumed artisans offering their creations using ancestral techniques: wood-fired pottery, handmade jewelry, old loom textiles, illuminated parchments, and medieval musical instruments. Visitors could observe the artisans at work, discuss their skills with them, and acquire unique pieces.
The knight fights, presented by a specialized historical reenactment troupe, captivated the audience in the main square. The fully armored combatants performed carefully choreographed but very realistic jousts and melees, illustrating medieval combat techniques. In parallel, falconry demonstrations featured birds of prey in flight over the village.
On Saturday evening, the nocturnal fire show beautifully concluded the first day: torches, fire-eaters, and fiery jugglers illuminated the alleys of the bastide in a striking pyrotechnic ballet, with the light of the flames reflecting on the medieval stone facades.
Programme
Program of the 2025 Medieval Festival
- Saturday, August 26 and Sunday, August 27, 10 am-6 pm: Grand medieval market on the Place des Cornières and alleys — costumed artisans, skill demonstrations
- All day: Parades of troubadours, minstrels, and costumed characters in the village
- 11 am and 3 pm: Knight fights and medieval fencing demonstrations
- 2 pm and 4 pm: Falconry demonstrations with bird of prey flights
- 12:30 pm: Convivial medieval meal (registration on-site, limited places)
- Children's activities: Archery, medieval calligraphy workshops, face painting
- Saturday evening at nightfall: Grand nocturnal fire show
