Edition 2025 — Transhumance de Munster
14th edition of the Great Transhumance Festival in Muhlbach-sur-Munster. Nearly 200 Vosges cows crossed the village to the sound of cowbells and Alpine horns. Ecumenical celebration, market with 70 artisans and producers, Munster soup, cheese-making demonstrations, and Malkerowa evening.
The 14th Great Transhumance Festival took place on Saturday, October 4, 2025, in Muhlbach-sur-Munster. Starting at 9:30 AM, an ecumenical celebration with choristers, Alpine horns, and 'Hautes Chaumes' horn players opened the day in the Protestant church. Around 11 AM, the first herds appeared in the village streets, offering a colorful and sonorous spectacle. The traditional Munster soup was served in front of the Schlitte museum. Some 70 artisan and producer stands enlivened the festival all day long. The bravest could follow the descent of the cows from the Gaschney station car park at 1 PM. The festival continued into the evening with the Malkerowa, the traditional mountain vigil.
