Fête du Sel 2025 - La Guittière, Talmont-Saint-Hilaire

On Sunday, August 24, 2025, the village of La Guittière hosted the Fête du Sel around the Salorge, from 11 am to 11 pm. Organized by La Ruche d'Idées in partnership with local salt workers, this day offered a complete immersion into the world of Vendée salt marshes.

Guided tours of the marshes took place throughout the day, led by a salt worker from La Guittière who took visitors into the evaporation basins to explain the harvesting of grey salt and fleur de sel. Six departures were offered (11 am, 2 pm, 3 pm, 4 pm, 5 pm, and 5:45 pm), each allowing visitors to discover the ancestral gestures of Vendée salt production in the magnificent setting of the marshes at the end of summer.

The artisan and local producer market brought together potters, jewelers, artisanal jam makers, cheesemakers, beekeepers, and oyster farmers around the salorge. Fleur de sel and flavored salts from La Guittière were highly appreciated by visitors. Storytellers enlivened the day with tales of the marsh and Vendée legends for young and old. The evening continued with folk music entertainment in a festive and friendly atmosphere.
