595th edition - Joan of Arc the fighter
The 595th edition of the Fêtes de Jeanne d'Arc, held from April 29 to May 8, 2024, highlighted the figure of Joan of Arc as a fighter and universal symbol. The event brought together the civil, military, and religious traditions that make these centuries-old festivities unique.
The program included the traditional sword presentation ceremony on April 29 on the parvis of the Sainte-Croix Cathedral, the procession on May 1, the Joan of Arc festival in Orléans La Source, the medieval market at Campo Santo (May 5-8) with nearly a hundred artisans and medieval entertainment, as well as the sound and light show on the cathedral facade.
May 8th was marked by the solemn mass in the cathedral, the military parade, and the commemorative procession through the city center, bringing together tens of thousands of participants and spectators.
