40th Edition - King Francis I's Entry into Le Puy-en-Velay
To celebrate its 40 years, the Roi de l'Oiseau chose a grand historical theme: the royal entry of Francis I into Le Puy on July 18, 1533, including the meeting with the ambassadors of Suleiman the Magnificent. This anniversary edition, described as XL and XXL by the organizers, marked four decades of Renaissance historical reenactments in the streets of the upper town of Le Puy-en-Velay.
Over 6,000 costumed extras filled the cobbled streets, accompanied by more than 30 participating associations and artists from across Europe. The program featured over 250 free performances in the city's historic areas, in addition to exceptional paid shows.
