The tradition of santons on the Old Port
The 2024 edition of the Foire aux Santons de Marseille took place from November 16, 2024, to January 5, 2025, on the Quai du Port, in the heart of the Old Port. 21 artisan santon makers presented their creations — hand-painted clay nativity figurines, accessories, and decorations — all certified as made in Provence in their workshops.
The fair was open daily from 10 AM to 7 PM, and until 8 PM on Fridays and Saturdays. The solemn inauguration took place on the Sunday following the opening, with a mass in Provençal at the Église Saint-Ferréol les Augustins, followed by the ribbon cutting and a tour of the stands accompanied by Provençal folk dances.
