First Edition — March 22, 2025
The very first edition of Folk'Ancy was held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at the Ancy-le-Franc village hall, at 59 Grande Rue. This pioneering evening offered the inhabitants of the Tonnerrois region a quality folk dance experience, open to all levels.
Evening Program
From 5:30 PM, the doors opened to a friendly space with a bar and light refreshments. At 6:00 PM, a folk dance discovery workshop welcomed novices and the curious to teach them the basics of traditional dances with live music.
At 8:00 PM, the quartet Amassà — hurdy-gurdy, accordion, three-hole flute, and percussion — took the audience on a musical journey between Gascony, Limousin, and Berry, offering an energetic and accessible dance with traditional melodies from these three central French provinces.
At 9:30 PM, Le Mange Bal took over to close the night with their unique recipe: trad dances from Occitanie, Auvergne, and Brittany seasoned with electronic beats, bass, and analog synthesizers. Novices and experienced dancers alike shared the same floor, carried by the festive generosity of the duo Théodore Lefeuvre and Nils Kassap.
A Foundational Success
This first edition demonstrated the region's appetite for quality folk dance. The initiative led by SARL Menneret, with the support of the Chablis Cure et Yonne Tonnerrois Tourist Office, laid the foundation for an event destined to become a fixture in the cultural calendar of the Tonnerrois.
