Grande Marée 2024: 20th Anniversary Edition
The 20th edition of Grande Marée celebrated its twenty years of existence on Saturday, June 1, 2024, taking over the Saint-Nazaire seafront from the Sautron green space to Villès-Martin beach.
The afternoon began at 3 PM in Sautron with the children's dance, bringing together about 2,000 students from 100 classes for traditional dances choreographed by the trio Amañ. At 5 PM, an introduction to Brazilian forró was offered by the association Les Pieds ont des oreilles.
From 6 PM, street arts companies took over the seafront and the beach: Cie Le Dénouement Qu'on Voudrait (comedy), Cie La Migration (circus and dance), Cie Kiaï (trampoline and acrobatics), Cie Joe Sature (clown quartet), and Cie Système B which hosted a three-hour participatory dance.
The evening concluded with a concert by the group BIM (Bénin International Musical) from 10:40 PM to midnight on the beach, offering vodoun-rock odes, raps, and African rhythms, accompanied by the traditional giant picnic facing the ocean.
