9th Edition - February 7 to March 1, 2025
The 9th edition of the Hip Hop Never Stop Festival took over the stages of the Grenoble metropolitan area for three weeks, from February 7 to March 1, 2025. True to its DNA, the festival celebrated openness, diversity, and creativity through 17 performances and numerous activities blending dance, street art, concerts, exhibitions, and battles.
Opening with Kader Attou
The festival opened on Friday, February 7, at L'Heure bleue with Prélude, an intense creation by choreographer Kader Attou of Compagnie Accrorap. This piece blended virtuosic dance and electroacoustic music composed by Romain Dubois in a poetic and hypnotic crescendo, blurring the lines of hip-hop to approach it as a dialogue with other dances, enriched by all influences.
An International Program
Among the highlights of this edition, the performance MeriDio by the company Mehdia, presented on February 9 at L'Ilyade in Seyssinet-Pariset, brought together dancers from Bolivia, Cyprus, France, Italy, and Greece to evoke migration and journeys. The concert by artist Rocé on February 20 at La Source in Fontaine offered an intense musical moment.
Workshops and Transmission
The participatory component included the Hip-Hop Boom Boom workshop on February 8, celebrating the joy of dancing together, a parent-child workshop for hip-hop initiation on February 19, and the Hip Hop Camp from February 24 to 28 for teenagers aged 11 to 17. The student battle on February 25 allowed young dancers to compete in a friendly atmosphere.
A Grand Finale
The festival concluded in style on Saturday, March 1, with a spectacular 3 vs 3 battle at L'Heure bleue, bringing together amateur and professional dancers in a high-energy competition. A reduced price from the 2nd show, upon presentation of the first ticket, encouraged the audience to discover more.
