2025 Edition — The 1st Edition: Carmaux in the Time of Knights

From June 6 to 8, 2025, the Parc Jean Jaurès in Carmaux hosted a medieval festival for the very first time. This inaugural edition of 'Once Upon a Time Carmaux' immediately captivated the region's residents with the richness of its program and the quality of its participants.

Visitors discovered authentic medieval living camps meticulously recreated: tents, utensils, armor, and period equipment set up by specialized companies from all over France. Knight combats in full armor, equestrian jousts, and demonstrations of historical artistic fencing (HEMA) punctuated the three days, to the applause of a delighted audience.

The participatory workshops were particularly popular with families: medieval surgery, period hygiene and beauty, stone carving, medieval cooking, armory, ancient games, and wool weaving allowed everyone to experience the Middle Ages from the inside. The local artisan market and troubadour concerts completed this eclectic program. On Saturday evening, an animated banquet served at the lord's table brought guests together for a medieval meal prepared by a caterer specializing in medieval cuisine.
