Edition 2025 — Jazz'Alp
9th edition of the Jazz'Alp festival in Alpe du Grand Serre. Eight evenings of concerts with sixteen acts blending professional artists and amateur musicians, from 1940s swing to gypsy jazz, gospel, and ska-jazz.
9th Edition: Diversity of Jazz in the Spotlight
For its ninth edition, the Jazz'Alp festival took over the Chardon Bleu hall from Friday, March 7 to Saturday, March 15, 2025, offering sixteen concerts over eight evenings. True to its original format, each evening featured two acts: a first part by amateur musicians from the regional scene, followed by a concert by professional artists.
The 2025 lineup highlighted a wide diversity of styles and generations. The Holy Bounce Orchestra, a septet featuring Thomas Le Roux (trumpet), Kenny Jeanney (alto sax), Vincent Périer (tenor sax), Anthony Bonnière (trombone), Camille Thouvenot (piano), Pierrot Brondel (double bass), and Jocelin Perrier (drums), transported the audience into the world of 1940s swing.
Marthe et Pilani Bubu took the audience on a journey between Afro-Caribbean rhythms and modern jazz. Sandra Mounam paid a vibrant gospel tribute to Nina Simone, while the group Skartet brought a Jamaican touch with their energetic ska-jazz. Belzaii, a gypsy jazz group from the Rhône valley led by Olivier Tassëel and Cédric Meunier, made the hall swing in the pure acoustic tradition.
The multi-instrumentalist improviser Sylvain Monchocé, exploring flutes, saxophones, gayageum, and daegeum, offered a unique moment of instrumental concrete music. Le Chat qui Grince, a sextet from Isère, returned to the festival for the second time with a new program.
As every year, an open jam session led by double bassist Tarik Hassan and drummer Lionel Grivet allowed musicians to connect in a spirit of sharing. An educational concert for schoolchildren was organized on Friday, March 14, from 10 AM to 11 AM.
