Jazz in Saint-Étienne-les-Orgues 2016 - 2nd edition

The second edition of the festival took place from July 20 to 22, 2016, with an ambitious and eclectic program over three evenings. The festival took over two emblematic venues in the village: the Théâtre de Verdure and the Saint-Étienne church.

On Wednesday, July 20, a conference by saxophonist Raphaël Imbert opened the festivities in the afternoon. At 6:30 PM, in the Saint-Étienne church, the « Bach Coltrane » program brought together Raphaël Imbert on saxophones, André Rossi on Hammond organ, and Jean-Luc Di Fraya on percussion and vocals, in a fascinating dialogue between baroque music and jazz. At 9:30 PM, the Dancing Jazz Band electrified the Théâtre de Verdure with Raphaël Imbert, singer Marion Rampal, Simon Sieger on trombone and accordion, Thomas Weirich on guitars, Pierre Fenichel on double bass, and Jean-Luc Di Fraya on drums.

On Thursday, July 21, the Gypsy Swing Quintet de Liège offered an evening of lively gypsy jazz. On Friday, July 22, the festival concluded in style with the Rhoda Scott Ladies Quartet, led by the legendary American organist Rhoda Scott, a major figure in jazz.
