Edition 2019 — Printemps Proustien
Goncourt Prize Centenary - May 11 to 19, 2019
The 2019 Printemps Proustien was an exceptional edition, celebrating the centenary of the Goncourt Prize awarded to Marcel Proust for The Captive (À l'ombre des jeunes filles en fleurs). From May 11 to 19, Illiers-Combray offered ten days of festivities centered around the themes of Proust, the Goncourt Prize, and the Belle Époque.
A special Belle Époque weekend on May 11 and 12 kicked off the festivities. Fifteen exhibitions were presented in Proustian locations: Proust's portrait by Jacques-Émile Blanche, comic strips by Gibrat and Heuet, Gallimard exhibitions, photographs, sculptures, and old postcards. A traveling cinema screened films related to Proust's universe.
