The 15th edition of Les Jazzeries d'Hiver took place from January 16 to February 8, 2025, in Saint-Étienne and its metropolitan area. This traveling festival, organized by the Gaga Jazz association, featured concerts, cine-concerts, film screenings, and jam sessions in several venues across the metropolis: Le Fil, Le Solar, Méliès Jean Jaurès, L'Échappé in Sorbiers, Andrézieux-Bouthéon, and Saint-Victor-sur-Loire. 15th Edition — January 16 to February 8, 2025
Les Jazzeries d'Hiver celebrated its 15th edition from January 16 to February 8, 2025, once again taking over the cultural venues of Saint-Étienne and its surrounding area for nearly three weeks. True to the festival's spirit, this edition offered a rich and varied program mixing concerts, cine-concerts, film screenings about jazz, and jam sessions open to all.
Multiple Venues for a Traveling Festival
The festival took place in its emblematic venues: Le Fil, Saint-Étienne's contemporary music stage, for headline concerts; Le Solar, Gaga Jazz's intimate jazz stage within La Comète; the Méliès Jean Jaurès cinema for cine-concerts and screenings; L'Échappé in Sorbiers to reach audiences in the wider area; as well as venues in Andrézieux-Bouthéon and Saint-Victor-sur-Loire.
A Program Balancing Excellence and Local Connection
The 15th edition confirmed the festival's ability to combine nationally and internationally renowned artists with talents from the local jazz scene. Concerts at Le Fil and Le Solar showcased diverse ensembles – from contemporary jazz to bebop, including improvised music and blues. The cine-concerts at Méliès offered unique encounters between live music and cinema, while the Monday evening jam sessions at Le Solar brought together amateur and professional musicians in a spirit of sharing.
