43rd edition — Musical Journey Through Ancient Europe

The 2025 edition of the festival offered an essentially European musical tour through styles and centuries, without a set theme, in order to welcome ensembles previously excluded by thematic constraints.

The ensemble Les Veilleurs de Nuit opened the festival on August 1st with Heinrich Biber's Sonatas of the Rosary, a masterpiece of 17th-century Baroque violin virtuosity, performed by violinist Alice Piérot accompanied by Élisabeth Geiger on harpsichord and organ, and Angélique Mauillon on baroque harp.

On August 3rd, Tasto Solo presented "La Flor en Paradis", a program of sacred and secular motets from the codices of Montpellier and Las Huelgas (1250-1350), illustrating the flourishing of Western polyphony. On August 5th, the ensemble Tumbleweeds offered a luminous "Venetian Ballad" with works by Frescobaldi, Kapsberger, and Legrenzi, highlighting the sackbut, ancestor of the trombone.

On August 9th, Les Musiciens de Saint-Julien, led by François Lazarevitch, performed Scottish and Irish melodies and dance tunes from the 17th and 18th centuries. Finally, François Joubert-Caillet and the Quatuor A'dam closed the festival on August 12th with "Elizabeth's Corsairs", a program exploring faith and music aboard a British ship in the latter half of the 16th century.
