Edition 2025 — The Ceyzérieu Concerts

The 8th edition of the Musiques en Bugey festival took place from 12 to 16 August 2025 across five venues in the Bugey Sud. Eight concerts were given by eleven virtuoso musicians, including pianist Jérémie Moreau (Révélation des Victoires de la musique classique 2022), cellist Aurélien Pascal (Révélation 2023) and accordionist Félicien Brut. A repertoire spanning from Bach to Gershwin and Bernstein, through Schubert, Poulenc and Saint-Saëns.

8th edition - 12 to 16 August 2025

The Musiques en Bugey festival returned for its 8th edition from 12 to 16 August 2025, offering eight concerts across five iconic venues in the Bugey Sud: Artemare, Flaxieu, Culoz, Belley and Ceyzérieu.

Eleven virtuoso musicians

Under the artistic direction of Josquin Otal (piano) and Elia Cohen Weissert (soprano), eleven internationally acclaimed artists gathered for this edition: Félicien Brut (accordion), Adrien Boisseau (viola, 4th appearance), Jérémie Moreau (piano, Révélation des Victoires de la musique classique 2022), Aurélien Pascal (cello, Révélation 2023), Mairéad Hickey (violin), David Moreau (violin), Florian Pons (cello), Amaury Viduvier (clarinet), Ismaël Boerner (vibraphone) and Samuel Bricault (flute).

An eclectic programme

The programming explored a vast repertoire: Latin music by Piazzolla, Villa-Lobos and Ponce arranged for string quartet and accordion; Bach cello suites; An American in Paris by Gershwin and West Side Story by Bernstein for two pianos; Schubert quintet; The Story of Babar by Poulenc narrated by Isabelle Bourgeais for young audiences; and The Carnival of the Animals by Saint-Saëns performed by ten musicians for the closing concert, alongside works by Satie and Belle Époque songs.

A springboard for young piano talent and piano duets by Grieg and Schubert completed the 15 August programme in Ceyzérieu.

An American in Paris by Gershwin for string quartet and accordion. Rhapsody in Blue by Gershwin and West Side Story by Bernstein for two pianos.

Thursday 14 August - 7:30pm - Cathedral of Belley

Bach Variations and Schubert Quintet for five musicians.

Friday 15 August - 5:30pm - Salle Julien Richard, Ceyzérieu

The Story of Babar by Poulenc, musical tale for young audiences, narrated by Isabelle Bourgeais.

Young piano talent springboard.

Piano duo: works by Grieg and Schubert.
