152nd Edition: The King of the Oceans Reigns Over Nice
The 152nd edition of the Nice Carnival took place from February 12 to March 2, 2025, under the theme "The King of the Oceans". Nice chose to highlight the beauties of the marine world while raising public awareness about the preservation of oceanic ecosystems, in a carnival that was both spectacular and committed.
The festivities were launched on February 12 by the Grand Charivari in the Riquier district, a popular and noisy parade marking the King's entrance. On February 15, La Carnavalina animated the entire city with free parades, artistic happenings, and flower distribution in the streets of Nice. The monumental floats, created by carnival artists in the municipal workshops, represented giant whales, fantastic octopuses, luminous jellyfish, and creatures of the abyss.
The evening's illuminated carnival parades, with their lit-up floats and costumed troupes, offered a magical spectacle on Place Masséna. The flower battles on the Promenade des Anglais continued this unique tradition where thousands of fresh flowers are thrown to the public from decorated floats.
