13th Edition — March 25 to April 6, 2025
The thirteenth edition of the Ojoloco Festival offered a particularly rich program, with 42 feature films of fiction and documentary and 7 short films, representing 18 countries from Latin America and the Iberian Peninsula. Twelve guests—directors, producers, and actors—were present to accompany the screenings and engage with the Grenoble audience.
Competitions
As every year, the festival was structured around three official competitions, judged by the public:
- Fiction Competition at Cinéma Le Méliès, featuring works highlighting the diversity of Hispanic and Lusophone cinematographies.
- Documentary Competition at Cinéma Le Méliès, exploring the social and political realities of the Latin American continent and the Iberian Peninsula.
- Short Film Competition at Mon Ciné in Saint-Martin-d'Hères, offering a panorama of emerging cinematic talent.
Opening and Highlights
The festival opened its doors on Tuesday, March 25, at 8:30 PM at Cinéma Le Méliès with the screening of the film Marco, the enigma of a life by Aitor Arregi and Jon Garaño. Among the edition's highlights, the Nuit Blanche on Friday, April 4, at Cinéma Juliet Berto featured a thematic program around revenge in Iberian and Latin American cinema, including The Nevada Guns (1968), Machete (2010), and La venganza de los punks (1991).
Encuentro Loco and Events
The Encuentro Loco sessions allowed for deeper exploration of political and cinematic topics in the presence of guests and specialists. Concerts, dance performances, an art exhibition, and festive evenings complemented the film program.
