The 47th Onion Fair of Villeneuve-la-Guyard was held on August 30 and 31, 2025. For two days, the town center hosted a flea market, a local produce market, a funfair, an onion peeling contest, and sports activities. On Saturday evening, the show at Les Promenades brought together residents and visitors for a convivial meal and a ball, in the great tradition of this popular festival of the Sénonais.

47th Onion Fair - August 30 and 31, 2025
On August 30 and 31, 2025, Villeneuve-la-Guyard (89340) hosted the 47th edition of the Onion Fair, true to its tradition of the last weekend of August. From Saturday morning, the streets of the town center came alive with stalls from the flea market and the local produce market, where local producers and food artisans offered onions, seasonal vegetables, cheeses, jams, and regional wines.
The official opening at 10:00 AM in the Town Hall Square, to the sound of the Fanfare de l'Espérance Varennoise, kicked off the day with speeches by officials and the inaugural cocktail. Throughout the two days, the onion peeling contest caused laughter and tears in the literal sense, while sports associations and painting and patchwork exhibitions enriched the program.
On Saturday evening, Les Promenades hosted a highly appreciated festive evening: a convivial meal accompanied by onion soup and grilled meats, followed by a musical show and a ball. Sunday concluded with the award ceremony for the onion peeling contest at 4:30 PM and the official closing at 6:00 PM.
