The Tenth Anniversary of Eden District Blues
On May 11 and 12, 2012, the Place au Blues festival celebrated the tenth anniversary of the Eden District Blues association in Oraison with great fanfare. Two intense days of blues brought together a loyal audience and artists from four countries on the stages of the Salle de l'Eden and the Place du Kiosque.
Friday, May 11 — Salle de l'Eden
The opening evening began at 8:30 PM at the Salle de l'Eden with the Italian band Veronica Sbergia & The Red Wine Serenaders, who offered vintage acoustic blues with Mediterranean sounds, followed by the American artist Kellie Rucker accompanied by the Italian Maurizio Pugno Organ Trio, for a powerful and groovy soul blues set.
Saturday, May 12 — A Full Day of Blues
The free afternoon on the Place du Kiosque started at 3:30 PM with the French band Jack Bon Slim Combo, followed by Hobo Blues, a multi-instrumentalist duo rooted in the Delta blues tradition. At 6:30 PM, the Polish band Tomek Dziano Quartet performed an open-air concert accompanied by a friendly barbecue. The evening concluded at the Salle de l'Eden with two American legends: Eddie Taylor Jr, son of the famous Chicago blues guitarist, and Jimmy Burns, a veteran of Windy City blues.
An art exhibition “Chocolat Show” by artist Jorge Ramirez enriched the festival's cultural program.
