36th edition of the Rencontres Musicales de Haute-Provence
The 36th edition of the Rencontres Musicales de Haute-Provence took place from July 21 to 26, 2024, in Forcalquier and surrounding villages. True to the spirit of sharing and artistic excellence that has characterized the festival since 1983, this edition offered a rich and varied program.
The Continuous Day on July 21 opened the festival with a free musical marathon at the Forcalquier Cathedral. The evenings at the Cloister of the Cordeliers featured themed programs, including "The Cello, Voice of the World" and "Shadows and Light." Saxophonist and improviser Raphaël Imbert and Cretan lyra player Sokratis Sinopoulos brought new musical colors, blending jazz, Mediterranean music, and chamber music.
The dawn concerts at the Citadel, free impromptus during the day, and a film screening about Claude McKay completed this intense week of musical encounters.
