2nd Edition — The Festival's Growth and the Birth of the Academy

The second edition of the Rencontres Musicales de La Baule, from July 4th to 15th, 2024, marked a major turning point with the expansion of the festival to the Pays Blanc and the creation of the Chamber Music Academy, directed by cellist François Salque.

Three Major Concerts at the Parc des Dryades Amphitheater

On Thursday, July 4th, pianist Khatia Buniatishvili opened the festival with a masterful recital: Bach (Prelude and Fugue in A minor, Liszt transcription), Mozart (Sonata K. 545), Beethoven (Sonatas 'The Tempest' and 'Appassionata'), Liszt (Consolation No. 3 and Hungarian Rhapsody No. 6).

On Sunday, July 7th, the Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire, conducted by Sascha Goetzel, with Corina Belcea (violin) and Antoine Lederlin (cello) as soloists, performed Beethoven's Leonore Overture III, Brahms' Double Concerto, and Mozart's 'Jupiter' Symphony.

On Monday, July 15th, Renaud Capuçon and Guillaume Bellom presented the complete sonatas for violin and piano by Brahms.

The Chamber Music Academy

A major innovation of this 2nd edition, the Chamber Music Academy hosted young professional ensembles under the direction of Corina Belcea, Antoine Lederlin, François Salque, and Lise Berthaud. Several concerts were held in the heritage sites of the Pays Blanc.
