The large performance hall on Île Seguin in Boulogne-Billancourt
Inaugurated in 2017 on Île Seguin in Boulogne-Billancourt, La Seine Musicale is the major cultural facility of the Hauts-de-Seine department. Its annual season combines classical, lyrical, jazz, world music, and popular entertainment in two iconic venues: the Grande Seine (6,000 seats) and the Patrick Devedjian Auditorium (1,150 seats).
Built on the Île Seguin in Boulogne-Billancourt, on the site of the former Renault factory closed in 1992, La Seine Musicale is one of the largest and most ambitious cultural facilities in the Paris region. Inaugurated in April 2017, designed by architects Shigeru Ban and Jean de Gastines, it immediately became a major architectural landmark, recognizable by its sliding photovoltaic sail and its wooden facade that dialogues with the Seine River.
The Hauts-de-Seine department conceived La Seine Musicale as the cornerstone of the Vallée de la Culture (Valley of Culture), an ambitious cultural development project that enriches the entire departmental territory. Each season, the programming reflects artistic excellence and a commitment to openness to all audiences, from classical music to amplified music, from musical theater to dance.
La Seine Musicale features two main halls with complementary configurations. The Grande Seine, with its modular capacity of up to 6,000 seats, hosts major touring pop, rock, jazz, variety shows, and family entertainment. The Patrick Devedjian Auditorium (1,150 seats), with its exceptional acoustics, is dedicated to classical, lyrical, and chamber music, featuring variable acoustics to adapt reverberation to different repertoires.
In addition, there is a club for more intimate formats, a recording and rehearsal center, a singing school, exhibition spaces, restaurants, and shops, making La Seine Musicale a true cultural village open to the Seine and to visitors.
La Seine Musicale hosts several musical ensembles on a permanent or regular basis. The Insula Orchestra, led by Laurence Equilbey, presents a demanding and bold program of early and classical music each season. The Orchestre Appassionato, founded and led by Mathieu Herzog, aims to reach all audiences through accessible concerts that break down stylistic barriers. The Orchestre National d'Île-de-France and the Orchestre Lamoureux also give regular concerts there.
The presence of these ensembles contributes to La Seine Musicale's reputation as a benchmark venue for classical and contemporary music in France, while also enhancing the musical influence of the Île-de-France region internationally.
The 2025-2026 season at La Seine Musicale offered a program of great richness. Highlights include Jean-Sébastien Bach's Mass in B minor on March 26 and 27, 2026, with the ensemble accentus, featuring soloists Nuria Rial and Werner Güra. The Maurice Ravel evening on June 13, 2026, provided an unprecedented multidisciplinary immersion, blending classical music, electro, DJ sets, and video images of Les Apaches, under the direction of Julien Masmondet. The Chorus Festival took over La Seine Musicale on April 10, 11, and 12, 2026, with its children's program on the weekend of April 11 and 12.
The 2026-2027 season at La Seine Musicale in Boulogne-Billancourt will be announced in spring 2026. As every year, it will feature a program combining classical, lyrical, jazz, amplified music, and family shows in the Grande Seine and the Patrick Devedjian Auditorium.
