The 2nd edition of the Médiévales en Dombes took place on 6 and 7 September 2025 at the Centre Culturel de la Dombes and in the old quarter of Châtillon-sur-Chalaronne. Under the theme 'The hero that sleeps within each of us', over 25 artists and artisans brought the medieval town to life with combats, a medieval market, fire shows, archery, pony rides and coin minting.

2nd edition - The hero that sleeps within each of us
On 6 and 7 September 2025, Châtillon-sur-Chalaronne came alive to the rhythm of the 2nd edition of the Médiévales en Dombes. Under the theme 'The hero that sleeps within each of us', the cultural centre of the Dombes and the old quarter were transformed into an immersive feudal citadel.
Over 25 artists, artisans and performance professionals took over the picturesque streets and historic squares to deliver a weekend full of excitement. Visitors could watch epic combats and demonstrations of bravery, browse a medieval market brimming with artisan treasures, and enjoy concerts and musical performances inspired by the Middle Ages.
The youngest visitors were enchanted by the pony rides, archery tasters and coin minting workshops. Feudal tales and readings transported families into the world of legends of old. On Saturday evening, the grand fire show provided a spectacular and unforgettable finale to this successful second edition.
