Epic of Olympic Origins
The 34th edition of the Carnival of Marseille took place on Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 2 PM to 5 PM on the Old Port. Themed around the Olympic Games, this edition celebrated Marseille's hosting of the Paris 2024 Games sailing events, with a colorful parade mixing allegorical floats, brass bands, dancers, and street artists along the quays.
The procession followed its usual route from the Théâtre de la Criée to Quai du Port, animated by hundreds of costumed participants on the Olympic theme. Face painting stands were available for families at Place Bargemon, creating a popular and multigenerational festive atmosphere.
