60th Anniversary — June 26 to July 29, 2025
The 2025 edition of the Châteauvallon-Liberté Summer Festival celebrated an exceptional milestone: the sixtieth anniversary of the site, founded in 1965 by Pierre Lacroix on the hills of Ollioules. For five weeks, from June 26 to July 29, 2025, the open-air amphitheater vibrated to the rhythm of the most significant creations in contemporary performing arts.
The anniversary program, curated under the artistic direction of Charles Berling, brought together iconic artists from the venue's history and new voices from French and international creation. The goal was twofold: to pay tribute to sixty years of artistic adventure and to affirm the vitality of a place that continues to take risks, create surprises, and open spaces for freedom.
Multidisciplinarity and Excellence
True to its multidisciplinary identity, the festival offered a comprehensive panorama of performing arts: contemporary dance, with creations from major national and international companies; theater, with demanding productions and texts that grapple with the world; creation circus, continuing the long-standing relationship between Châteauvallon and circus arts; music and digital arts, extending the festival's openness to new artistic forms.
The open-air evenings, under the starry Provençal sky, brought together thousands of spectators from all over the Var region and beyond, loyal to an annual event that, for sixty years, has made Châteauvallon a unique place in the French cultural landscape.
An Anniversary as a Manifesto
The 60th anniversary was marked by special events: exhibitions on the history of the site, encounters with artists, and documentary screenings covering six decades of creation. This anniversary edition reminded everyone why Châteauvallon is unique: not only for its incomparable natural setting, but for the continuity of an artistic commitment unwavering since 1965.
