The Chestnut and Walnut Fair: An Autumn Tradition in Pavezin

Every year, on the third Sunday of October, the small village of Pavezin, nestled in the heights of the Parc naturel régional du Pilat, hosts the Chestnut and Walnut Fair. This festive and gourmet event celebrates the emblematic fruits of autumn and the know-how of local producers.

A Market of Local Products and Crafts

The fair brings together numerous exhibitors from the Loire and neighboring departments, offering a wide range of products:

• Chestnuts and walnuts in all their forms: fresh, roasted, in jam, in cakes, and in oil
• Local products from the Pilat region: cheeses, cured meats, honeys, jams, and wines
• Local crafts: pottery, basketry, wooden objects, and artisanal creations

This diversity makes the fair a prime location for discovering and purchasing quality products directly from producers and artisans.

The Famous "Saucisse à la Grappe"

The fair's great specialty is the "saucisse à la grappe", carefully prepared by the volunteers of the Maranch'Loisirs association and served in the La Galoche hall. This generous and flavorful dish, served with potatoes, has become the gastronomic symbol of the event over the years and attracts food lovers from all over the region.

The Chestnut and Walnut Fair is not limited to the market. Throughout the day, a variety of activities are offered:

The fair takes place outdoors, in the parking lot and surroundings of the La Galoche hall, in the heart of the village.

The fair is the result of collaboration between two dynamic local associations: the Maranch'Loisirs association, which handles general organization and catering, and the ASSCP (Association Sportive Sainte-Croix Pavezin), the local football club, which manages the refreshment stand and snacks. This associative synergy demonstrates the vitality of community life in Pavezin and surrounding towns.
