Chocolate in an Imperial Setting

The Imperial Chocolate & Gastronomy Fair was born from the meeting of two French passions: chocolate and heritage. Since its creation in 2018, this unique event transforms the most prestigious spaces of the Château de Fontainebleau into a temple of indulgence for a long weekend in late November. The Galerie des Cerfs, 74 meters long and usually closed to the public, exceptionally opens its doors to host the stands of the best chocolatiers and pastry chefs. The Salle des Colonnes becomes a space for demonstrations and conferences, while the Cour Ovale, the castle's architectural jewel, houses an open-air gastronomic market.

Master Chocolatiers in the Spotlight

Each edition of the Imperial Chocolate Fair brings together exceptional artisans from all over France: master chocolatiers, pastry chefs, confectioners, roasters, and fine cocoa producers. Visitors can attend live demonstrations of chocolate making, discover the secrets of tempering and coating, and admire chocolate sculptures created on artistic themes related to the castle's history. Sensory workshops allow visitors to discover the subtleties of different cocoa varieties, from Latin American beans to African plantations. Conferences shed light on the fascinating history of chocolate, from the drink of the Aztec kings to modern indulgence.

A Gastronomic Market in the Cour Ovale

Beyond chocolate, the fair offers a gastronomic market that takes over the magnificent Cour Ovale of the castle. Local producers from Seine-et-Marne, artisans from the Brie region, culinary creators, and restaurateurs present their specialties: Brie cheeses, honey from the Fontainebleau forest, artisanal jams, olive oils, world spices, and exceptional pastries. This gourmet market allows visitors to combine heritage discovery with palate pleasures, in the festive and warm atmosphere of a late autumn weekend at the castle.

A Cultural and Gourmet Experience

The Imperial Chocolate & Gastronomy Fair offers more than just a gastronomic visit: it is a true cultural experience. The entrance ticket to the fair includes access to certain areas of the castle usually closed to the public, allowing visitors to discover little-known architectural treasures. The event benefits from the support of the Château de Fontainebleau, which sees this event as an original way to introduce national heritage to a wider audience. With its accessible prices — 6 euros on Friday evening, 9 euros on the weekend, free for children under 12 — the fair is aimed at all gourmets and curious visitors.
