The Ballastières: a cultural third place in Artois

The Collectif Ballast has been working for several years to revive a former farm in Gauchin-Verloingt, a small village in the Ternois region of Pas-de-Calais. Named Les Ballastières, this vast site located at 156 rue du Moulin has become a third place for welcoming and accessing culture, hosting artist residencies and concerts in very diverse styles, from oriental music to punk, including electronic or dub-noise.

Ballast'Yeah!: a festival born from creative effervescence

In 2025, the Collectif Ballast is launching the first edition of the Ballast'Yeah! Festival, a multidisciplinary event that crystallizes the artistic energy accumulated at the Ballastières. Over four days, the festival unfolds an ambitious and generous program that blurs the lines between disciplines and musical genres.

A borderless program

The Ballast'Yeah! Festival is distinguished by its radical eclecticism. The program mixes:

  • Concerts: local and regional bands rub shoulders with artists from Belgium, England, and Italy, in genres ranging from punk to folk, from electronic to world music.
  • Circus performances: contemporary circus companies in the open air.
  • Puppet theater: shows for all audiences.
  • Participatory workshops: artistic and creative introductions.
  • Podcasts and meetings: exchanges with artists and creators.

A spirit of openness

True to the philosophy of the Collectif Ballast, the festival cultivates a spirit of openness and sharing. Admission is by donation (free and conscious price), allowing everyone to access culture according to their means. This solidarity approach reflects the founding values of the third place and its integration into the local social fabric.

A rural and friendly setting

The Ballastières offer a natural and bucolic setting for the festival. Performances and concerts take place in the various spaces of the old farm and its outbuildings, creating an intimate and warm atmosphere. A bar and light catering are available on site. Camping is possible in the adjacent meadow, and parking is available on the site.
