Created in 2017, the "Des Volcans et des Bulles" BD Festival is an unmissable annual event for comic strip enthusiasts in the Puy-de-Dôme. Organized in Lezoux, this human-sized festival brings together about twenty comic strip authors each autumn for a weekend of signings, meetings, and discoveries.

A name that links the land and comics

The festival's name, "Des Volcans et des Bulles" (Of Volcanoes and Speech Bubbles), establishes a poetic link between the emblematic volcanic landscape of the Puy-de-Dôme and the speech bubbles of comic strips. This nod to the region anchors the festival in its Auvergne identity while celebrating the 9th art in all its forms.

Talented authors

Each edition hosts around 25 authors representing the diversity of comic strip professions: illustrators, scriptwriters, and colorists. A guest of honor is highlighted each year. In 2025, illustrator Aurélie Neyret was the guest of honor for the 9th edition. The festival showcases both established authors and emerging talents.

Events for everyone

Beyond signing sessions, the BD Festival offers drawing workshops, meet-and-greets with authors, exhibitions, and activities for young audiences. The festival takes place in two locations: the Le Lido hall, which hosts the majority of the authors and signings, and the Lezoux media library, which offers complementary exhibitions and activities.
