The Villeneuve-le-Roi Autumn Festival, an associative and popular gathering
Every late September, Villeneuve-le-Roi hosts its Autumn Festival, a popular and friendly event that brings together residents, associations, and local businesses for two days. Artisans, food stalls, sports clubs, and local associations liven up 86 rue du Général de Gaulle in a festive and warm atmosphere, under a theme renewed each year.
Villeneuve-le-Roi is a town in Val-de-Marne with approximately 20,000 inhabitants, bordered by the Seine and possessing a strong local identity. Its Autumn Festival, whose 2025 edition marked the 61st edition, is the most emblematic and anticipated festive event in the local calendar. For over sixty years, these festivals have brought together the residents of Villeneuve-le-Roi every late September in a celebration of associative life, local craftsmanship, and popular gastronomy.
The longevity of this event testifies to its deep roots in local culture. The Autumn Festival is much more than a simple municipal event: it is a rite of passage from summer to autumn, a moment of reunion for residents who gather each year around shared traditions and a renewed program. Each edition offers a theme that colors all the activities and creates an original festive and thematic coherence.
The Autumn Festival takes place on the Saturday and Sunday of late September, from 10 am to 6 pm, at 86 rue du Général de Gaulle. This main street of the town transforms for two days into a festive space filled with stands, activities, and stages that create a carnival and popular market atmosphere.
Saturday morning opens with associative exhibitors and professionals. The associations of Villeneuve-le-Roi are at the forefront: sports clubs, cultural associations, neighborhood groups, and social structures present their activities to the public and recruit new members for the season. For visitors, it is a unique opportunity to meet the entire associative fabric of the town in one place and find the activity or commitment that suits them.
Sports clubs take advantage of these festivals to finalize early-season registrations, with demonstrations and taster sessions that allow residents to try a new sport in a festive atmosphere. Football, tennis, swimming, martial arts, dance, and many other activities are represented to encourage residents to join a team.
Artisan and commercial exhibitors complete the program with their creations and gift ideas. Jewelry, decorations, handmade clothing, artworks, and regional products are offered by local and regional creators in a creative market atmosphere. These stands also allow for the discovery of artisans and creators whose work deserves to be highlighted.
Food and drink hold a prime place in the Autumn Festival. From noon onwards, the numerous stalls offer their specialties: pizza, sandwiches, crepes, burgers, and many other nourishing and tasty preparations to feed participants throughout this day of discoveries. The variety of gastronomic offerings reflects the cultural diversity of Villeneuve-le-Roi.
The 2025 edition had the theme of the sea, reflected in the decorations, activities, and the entire program to create an exotic and original atmosphere. Fun aquatic activities, marine decorations, and thematic stands transported residents to the seaside for an autumn weekend. This capacity for thematic renewal is one of the strengths of the Autumn Festival, which thus avoids routine and offers a new experience each year.
The 62nd edition of the Villeneuve-le-Roi Autumn Festival will be held on the Saturday and Sunday of late September 2026, from 10 am to 6 pm at 86 rue du Général de Gaulle. A new theme will animate this anniversary edition, with associations, sports clubs, artisans, and food stalls gathered for two days of popular and free festivities.
