Edition 2025 — Quatuors du Luberon
The 49th edition of the Festival International de Quatuors à Cordes du Luberon was held from August 15 to 28, 2025. The concerts once again brought together internationally renowned quartets in the Provençal villages, for intimate evenings in the churches and heritage sites of the Luberon, a stone's throw from the lavender fields and ochre cliffs.
49th edition — Summer 2025
The 49th edition of the Festival International de Quatuors à Cordes du Luberon confirmed, in August 2025, the vitality and influence of one of the oldest chamber music festivals in France. For two weeks, several major string quartets performed in the heritage sites of the Luberon villages — Goult, Roussillon, Cabrières d'Avignon, and Silvacane Abbey in La Roque-d'Anthéron — for concerts with limited seating, offering rare musical intimacy.
Programs spanning centuries
The 2025 program embraced the entire repertoire for string quartet, from the foundational works of Haydn and Mozart to the scores of Beethoven and Schubert, including the masters of late Romanticism — Brahms, Dvořák — and the essentials of the 20th century: Bartók, Shostakovich, Britten. Contemporary creations were also featured, true to the festival's tradition of openness.
Exceptional venues
As every year, the magic happens in these spaces where stone and music echo each other. The natural acoustics of the small Romanesque churches of the Luberon give the concerts a special resonance and depth, which the best concert halls in the world struggle to match. The audience, coming from all over France and Europe, appreciates the Provençal setting as much as the musical quality.
