Bagnolet's popular summer festival, city of artists in Seine-Saint-Denis
Bagnolet, a town of 36,000 inhabitants on the outskirts of Paris, has cultivated a strong artistic identity for decades. The town is home to an exceptional number of artist studios, theater companies, dance studios, and creative spaces, making it a true capital of popular arts in Seine-Saint-Denis. The Fête de Bagnolet is the most vibrant expression of this artistic vocation: each summer, it blends popular celebration with cultural outreach in a unique program.
The event is organized by the town hall in collaboration with the town's numerous cultural and associative stakeholders. It is entirely free and open to all, affirming Bagnolet's belief that art should be accessible to everyone, regardless of their origin or social status.
The Capsulerie district — named after the former bottle cap factories located there — is the beating heart of Bagnolet's festive and artistic life. The Rue de la Capsulerie and its surroundings regularly host local cultural events, including the big summer festival organized by CSC La Fosse-aux-Fraises every June 21st.
This Capsulerie festival features circus artists, pony rides for children, inflatable structures, live music, local food, and family activities in a warm and friendly neighborhood setting. It symbolizes the local cultural policy that the town of Bagnolet has been pursuing for many years.
In October, Bagnolet organizes its Artist Studio Open Days, a unique event in the Paris region. For two days, artists who inhabit the town's buildings and courtyards open their doors to the public, sharing their passion and techniques with visitors. Sculptors, painters, photographers, jewelers, ceramists, and craftspeople welcome the public into their creative spaces.
This cultural and festive event complements the summer festival, extending Bagnolet's tradition as a meeting place between creators and the public. It attracts thousands of visitors each year, eager to discover the hidden treasures within the town's courtyards and alleyways.
The richness of the Fête de Bagnolet stems from the vitality of the local associative fabric. Sports, cultural, social, and religious associations participate in animating the festival, offering stands, demonstrations, and activities in their respective fields. The Campus Fonderie de l'Image, located in a rehabilitated former foundry, also contributes to the town's cultural life and hosts festive events throughout the year, including the Puces de l'Illu in December, a graphic and illustrated arts fair.
The Fête de Bagnolet returns on June 20th and 21st, 2026 to celebrate summer and the artistic life of the town. The Capsulerie district and Bagnolet's public spaces will host circus shows, open-air concerts, family activities, and food stalls in a festive and popular atmosphere.
Artists and local associations will, as every year, be at the heart of the festival, offering workshops, demonstrations, and activities that reflect the richness of Bagnolet's creative and associative fabric.
