Edition 2024 — Saint-Pierre
2024 edition of the Fête de la Mer et de la Saint-Pierre in Martigues. Sardine feasts, Saint-Pierre procession, fishermen's mass at Sainte-Marie-Madeleine church, traditional rowing challenge, old-fashioned games, fireworks, and the grand Provençal jousting tournament on Sunday.
Fête de la Mer et de la Saint-Pierre 2024
The 2024 edition of the Fête de la Mer et de la Saint-Pierre took place on June 28th and 29th in the center of Martigues. The program began on Friday with the traditional rowing challenge on the town hall forecourt at 4 PM, followed by old-fashioned games on the Place de la Libération from 5 PM to 7 PM. At 6 PM, the fishermen's mass was celebrated at the Sainte-Marie-Madeleine church, followed at 7 PM by the Saint-Pierre procession through the streets of the L'Île district, ending with the blessing of the sea between the blue bridges.
On Saturday evening, the festivities continued with the sardine feasts and a fireworks display at 11 PM. On Sunday, the grand Provençal jousting tournament, the second round of the Provence Championship, set the pace for the entire day starting at 9 AM, with the Benjamins, Minimes, Cadets, Féminines, Juniors, and Seniors categories.
