Fête de la Musique 2025 in Avignon — Saturday, June 21st

On June 21, 2025, the summer solstice, the Fête de la Musique once again transformed Avignon into a giant open-air stage. Hundreds of musicians, amateurs and professionals, took over the squares, streets, courtyards, and gardens of the City of Popes for a night of entirely free music accessible to all.

Place de l'Horloge Celebrates

The main official stage at Place de l'Horloge hosted several artists invited by the City of Avignon, offering a varied program from late afternoon until midnight. The large and enthusiastic audience enjoyed this exceptional musical evening against the backdrop of the medieval old town, with the facades of the Hôtel de Ville and the Théâtre municipal as a backdrop.

Music Throughout the City

Far beyond the main stage, music resonated throughout the old town: in the narrow streets within the ramparts, under the ramparts, on the esplanades, in the courtyards of schools and associations. Brass bands paraded through the pedestrian streets, jazz groups set up at café terraces, and chamber orchestras gave concerts in historic courtyards opened for the occasion.

The Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional d'Avignon and associative music schools presented their students, offering young musicians a great opportunity to perform in public in a festive and supportive environment. These student performances, from the youngest beginners to the upper classes, are among the most moving moments of the evening.

A Provençal Night Under the Stars

The mildness of the Provençal night, the warmth of the summer solstice, and the special buzz of Avignon at the beginning of the festival season contributed to creating a memorable atmosphere. The 2025 Fête de la Musique confirmed its place as one of the most popular and anticipated events in Avignon's cultural calendar.
