The 40th edition of the Transhumance
The 40th edition of the Fete de la Transhumance was held on Monday, May 20, 2024, Whit Monday, in Saint-Remy-de-Provence. More than 4,000 sheep, goats, and donkeys paraded through the streets of the town center, led by shepherds in traditional costume and accompanied by sheepdogs, Provençal carts, and folk groups.
This anniversary edition was an opportunity to celebrate forty years of pastoral tradition in Saint-Remy, with a particularly rich pastoral market, shearing demonstrations, a giant aioli, and musical entertainment throughout the day. Tens of thousands of visitors witnessed the spectacular passage of the flocks through the narrow streets of the town of the Alpilles.
